The Title Race
Khaya Lam works with municipalities, conveyancers and funders to turn tenants into homeowners by transferring title deeds from councils to residents.
Between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026, 3,864 properties were transferred through Khaya Lam, bringing the total number of transfers countrywide to over 24,750.
Now, with the support of our sponsors, we are setting our sights even higher.
The Title Race to 5,000 transfers in one year
Our goal is to facilitate at least 5,000 title deed transfers by 31 August 2027.
To help accelerate the process, participating municipalities will compete in The Title Race, with a leaderboard tracking the number of transfers achieved by each municipality.
Quarterly winners will be recognised with a special title deed handover event and media coverage, giving every participating municipality the opportunity to take the lead.
After 31 August 2027, we will crown the overall Title Race winner.
